Eastern Pipeline Alliance
The Eastern Pipeline Alliance is part of the Queensland Governments Western Corridor Recycled Water Pipeline Project. The project scope includes the design, procurement and construction of a 90 km 1086 pipeline, 10 km 900 mm pipeline from Luggage Point to Bundamba and Oxley to Bundamba.
Redline Contracting was initially involved with the section of pipeline at the Luggage Point Alliance Facility which involved the fusion and installation of 600 metres of 900 mm HDPE in deep trenches. Dewatering of the trenches was a major problem, as well as working in acid sulphate soils that required extreme environmental controls. Shoring boxes had to be used to ensure access to the trench during the pipelaying process.
Redline Contracting then went on to fuse an additional 5000 metres of the 900 mm HDPE. Although not as restricted as the work in the Facility, the ground conditions were the same. Wet weather also caused some problems with site access and machinery and pipe movements.
