Construction of Towns Water Supply Esk to Tarong Power Station
The Western Pipeline Alliance was responsible for constructing a pipeline and necessary facilities to allow for the delivery of purified recycled water to Tarong Power Station and Wivenhoe Dam.
One section of the project was the construction of the Towns Water Supply pipelines. Small bore pipelines from Wivenhoe Dam and SunWater’s Boondooma Dam delivery point at Tarong Power Station were constructed to allow raw water to be supplied to the townships of Toogoolawa and Blackbutt, that had been previously supplied by the Tarong Energy pipeline.
Redline Contracting constructed a 37 kilometre HDPE PE100 pipeline in sizes of 200 mm to 355 mm, along with a 15 kilometre 200 mm DICL pipeline and special MSCL crossings.
The steep terrain proved to be challenging in places and required the use of innovative techniques to overcome construction difficulties. A large quantity of rock excavation was undertaken during trenching, some 5000 cubic metres in total.
Redline Contracting’s portion of the work was completed on time in line with the original works programme.
